Rava Kichadi

Ingredients:

Rava - 1 cup
Onion - 1 (thin slices)
Tomato - 1 (finely chopped)
Green chilly - 2 (slit)
Carrot and peas - 1/2 cup(together)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Lime juice - 1/2 tsp
Cashews - 5-6
Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
Corainder leaves - Little
Water - 3 cups
Salt - As reqd

Temper:
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Channa dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves - little

Method:
  • In a pan add little ghee and roast cashews and set aside.
  • Pressure cook veggies and set aside.
  • In pan add ghee and roast rava till raw smell goes and set aside.
  • Heat oil in pan and add items under temper.
  • Add ginger paste and then onion.
  • Once color changes add tomato and cook till it turns mushy.
  • Add veggies and saute for 2 mins.
  • Add turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
  • In other bowl boil water.
  • Add the boiled water to the pan and then add rava.
  • Mix well and cover and cook for 3-5 mins.
  • Add in cashews,coriander leaves and little ghee.
  • Rava Kichadi is ready and goes good with chutney.
