Tiffin Sambar #5 No dal Sambar



Ingredients:

Small Onion - 10
Tomato - 2 big or 3 small
Beans - 2
Drumstick pieces - 5
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Tamrind - Big Amla size
Roasted gram - 5 tsp
Coconut - 2 tsp 
Sambar thool - 2 tbsp
Hing - Little
Jaggery - Little
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/8 tsp
Dry Red Chilly - 1
Curry Leaves - A psig
Coriander Leaves - Little (fine chop)
Salt, Water, Oil - As Reqd

Method:

  • Soak tamrind in half cup of  hot water.
  • Boil vegetables and set aside.
  • In a blender add tomatoes, roasted gram, jaggery, salt, coconut, sambar thool.
  • Add water and blend it to fine paste.
  • Now heat oil in pan and mustard seeds, curry leaves and dry red chilly.
  • Add in sliced onions and saute for a while.
  • Add in boiled veggies and strained tamrind water.
  • Add in turmeric powder and hing and cook in low flame.
  • Add in blended paste and little water and mix well.
  • Cook in low flame till it thickens a bit.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
  • Goes good with idly/dosa.

Note:

  • You can add mixed vegetables or you can skip vegetables too.
  • Also you can skip onions too.
