Milagu Upma / Kovil upma




Ingredients:

Milagu upma noi - 1 cup
Water - 1 1/4 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Dry red chilly - 2
Oil - 3-4 tbsp
Salt - As reqd

Milagu upma noi:
Broken rice - 1 Kg
Thoor dal - 60 g
Cumin seeds - 2 tsp 
Black pepper corns - 2 tsp 

Method:

  • Add in thoor dal to blender n pulse it.
  • Then add little rice and pulse, don't blend on hig speed, just pulse it.
  • Repeat the smlame, seive and transfer to plate.
  • Add in cumin seeds and pepper orms n pulse(for few secs) it coarse.
  • Transfer to plate 
  • Store it in airtight container and use when needed.
  • Heat oil in pan and add mustard, cumin seeds and channa dal.
  • Add in chilly and saute for a while.
  • Now add milagu upma noi and saute for a while.
  • Add water and reqd salt.
  • Cover and cook in low flame for 20-25 mins.
  • Serve with coconut thuvayal.
