Arisi Upma




Ingredients:

Upma Noi:

Raw rice - 3 cups
Water - 2 cups

Upma:
Arisi upma noi - 1 cup
Water - 1 1/4 cup
Onion - 1 (fine chop)
Green Chilly - 2
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - Little
Hing - a pinch
Salt, Oil - As reqd

Method:

  • Wash and soak rice for 30 mins.
  • Strain water and spread the rise in a muslin cloth.
  • Let it sit till all water is absorbed.
  • Transfer the rice to a plate and spread it.
  • Let it sun dry for a day.
  • Then blend it coarsely  and seive it.
  • Transfer to plate.
  • Again sun dry it and store in air tight container.
  • Use it when needed.
  • Heat oil in pan and add mustard, cumin seeds and channa dal.
  • Add in curry leaves and once it splutters add onion.
  • Saute for a while and then add chillies.
  • Add water and when it boil add in hing.
  • Add reqd salt and then arisi upma noi and mix well.
  • Cover and cook in low flame for 20-25 mins.
  • Serve with coconut chutney or idly podi.
