Kondakadalai / Brown Channa Masala Sundal

Ingredients:

Brown Channa/ Kondakadalai - 1 cup
Hing - a pinch
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Dry red chilly - 1
Curry Leaves - a sprig
Salt,Oil, Water - As reqd

Masala:

Channa dal - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dry red chilly - 2

Method:

  • Soak channa overnight and then add salt to it.
  • Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles.
  • Heat oil in pan and add items under masala.
  • Saute for few mins and then blend to a fine powder.
  • Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
  • Add in dry red chilly and then boiled channa.
  • Toss well.
  • Add the masala, hing and mix well.
  • Add the grated coconut and toss well.
  • Serve hot.
