Ingredients:
Wheat flour - 2 1/2 cup
Unsalted butter - 114 g
Baking soda - 1 1/2 tsp
Treacle Syrup - 3/4 cup
Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp
Ginger powder - 1 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon powder - 1 tsp
Cloves powder - 1/2 tsp
Hot Water - 1 cup
Egg - 1
Salt - a pinch
Method:
- In a bowl cream butter and sugar.
- To this add egg and treacle syrup and whisk well.
- In a bowl add flour, baking soda, salt and spice powders and mix well.
- Add this dry ingredients to wet ingredients and fold well.
- Add hot water little by little and mix well.
- If the batter is too thick, you can add a tbsp or extra milk.
- Grease a cake pan and dust with flour.
- Invert and dap it to remove excess flour.
- Now pour the prepared batter to this and dap it.
- Bake this in a preheated oven (OTG) at 180°C for 28-33 mins.
- Yields 9 pieces.
Note:
I added 1/8 tsp of nutmeg powder instead of cloves powder.
