Sago Kesari


Ingredients:

Sago/Javarisi - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3/4 cup (more or less to your taste)
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Milk - 1 cup
Saffron Strands - 3-4
Kesari Color - 1/8 tsp
Elaichi powder - a pinch
Cashew nuts - 5-6 (broken)
Raisins - 5-6

Method:

  • Wash the sago in water and drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl add the sago and milk and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  • In a pan add little ghee, once hot add in cashews and raisins.
  • Roast them and set aside.
  • To the same pan add the pressure cooked sago and cook in low flame.
  • Add in sugar and keep stirring. 
  • Initially it will be watery, keep stirring.
  • Add in saffron strands and kesari color.
  • Once it starts to thicken add ghee and mix well.
  • Add the fried cashews and raisins and mix well.
  • Finally add a pinch of elaichi powder and mix.
  • Serve the yummy sago kesari.
