Ingredients:
Sago/Javarisi - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3/4 cup (more or less to your taste)
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Milk - 1 cup
Saffron Strands - 3-4
Kesari Color - 1/8 tsp
Elaichi powder - a pinch
Cashew nuts - 5-6 (broken)
Raisins - 5-6
Method:
- Wash the sago in water and drain and set aside.
- In a bowl add the sago and milk and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- In a pan add little ghee, once hot add in cashews and raisins.
- Roast them and set aside.
- To the same pan add the pressure cooked sago and cook in low flame.
- Add in sugar and keep stirring.
- Initially it will be watery, keep stirring.
- Add in saffron strands and kesari color.
- Once it starts to thicken add ghee and mix well.
- Add the fried cashews and raisins and mix well.
- Finally add a pinch of elaichi powder and mix.
- Serve the yummy sago kesari.
