Ingredients:
Small Onion - 6 - 8
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Dry Red chilly - 1
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Coriander Leaves - Little
Hing - a pinch
Tamrind - Lemon size
Salt, Oil - As reqd
To Grind:
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek/vaendayam - 1 tsp
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 2 tsp
Coriander seeds - 3 tsp
Dry red chilly - 6
Garlic flakes - 4-5
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Method:
- Soak tamrind in water.
- After a while strain this and keep aside.
- Dry roast items under "to grind" and blend to a paste and set aside.
- Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves.
- Add onion and saute for a while.
- Add tamrind water and let it boil for few mins.
- Add salt and grinded paste and mix well.
- Cook till you get kozhambu consistency.
- Finally add hing and mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
Note:
This tastes better the next day.
